My Mercedes 200D, '87

(Parked outside our former house)

As far back as I can remember, I have always dreamed of having a white Mercedes Benz. One day when my family and I was driving for leisure, we drove past a car dealer, whom had parked this car up front in his exhibition. My wife saw it, and she said "There is a white Mercedes for sale". The following day, I took it for a "walk", and I decided to buy it right away.

Because of extremely high Danish taxes, cars are very expensive in Denmark. Car taxes are about 180 percent of the original price of a car. This means that a car in this class would cost about 750,000 DKR (or about 90,000 US dollars) sold today as new.

Therefore new Mercedes are in generally only sold for the purpose to run as a taxi. When the car has served as a taxi for about three years, they are normally sold at a far more reasonable price. I bought this Mercedes for the price of 110,000 DKR (about 13,000 US dollars) at the age of 10 years and a mileage of 600,000 km (about 373,000 miles)!

Now (in the year 2001) I have had it for about four years and the mileage says 750,000 km or about 466,000 miles.
